Jump Rope for Heart.

Envelopes have gone home with each child and we are asking our community to contribute to this worthwhile endeavor to support the Heart and Stroke Association.  As a school we look to do three fundraising events each year where we support an ‘outside’ organization and all funds raised go to these agencies.  Our ‘work hard’ fundraiser was the Terry Fox event for Cancer, our ‘Be Nice’ fundraiser was going to be our community dinner to support the Halton Learning Foundation but unfortunately needed to be cancelled, and our final ‘Make a Difference’ fundraiser is Jump Rope for Heart.  Donations can be made through the envelopes your child brought home. Our school event will take place on Friday, May 3rd during the last two periods of the school day.A reminder that all students in the school will be participating on the day (Period 5 & 6 on May 3). Therefore, all students MUST come with running shoes on their feet.

The event will be held outdoors. Remind your children that they may need extra layers in case of foul weather.  If the forecast is for rain, do not worry, we have indoor plans. We are over $1200 already but have a long way to go to reach our goal.  We do have close to 1000 students! Every single one of you are heart heroes. This is the final weekend to get some donations from family and friends.

This Past Week:

C)    We had a very successful Earth Week at School.  The following events occurred each day.

On Tuesday, we had Earth Day clean up

Wednesday was Wasteless Wednesday, where we tried to accumulate as little garbage as possible as students were encouraged to take food waste/packages home or better yet, pack a litterless lunch. Two of our Kindergarten classes had zero garbage remaining in the room!

Thursday was Thoughtful Thursday, where classes were asked to create a class pledge on how to help the Earth

Today, Friday was ‘lights off at breaks’

Congratulations to our hard working ECO Team for a great week.
