Winter Cold Weather

We want your children to come to school on cold days.  The principal is responsible to determine the appropriateness of outdoor activities during inclement weather. Parents are responsible for considering weather conditions in preparing students for travel to/from school and any outdoor activities.  When the temperature or wind chill reaches -20°C (twenty degrees below zero, Celsius), students will be granted immediate entry to school upon arrival, and students will remain indoors during nutrition breaks. Students are also required to keep their outdoor coats/jackets with them throughout the instructional day, in case of a need to evacuate the school.  On cold days with minus temperatures students still go outside for their break time unless they are involved in a supervised activity inside the school.

There has been a promotion!

We are so happy to announce recent developments in the Halton District School Board that have involved the promotion of one of our outstanding educators.

We congratulate Mrs. Alison Miller, one of our amazing Special Education Resource Teachers  who has been promoted to the position of Vice Principal with the HDSB.  Mrs. Miller will soon be leaving us to lead W.H. Morden Public School in Oakville.  Mrs. Miller was successful in the promotion and interview process earlier this school year and we were all just waiting for an opening at one of the schools to occur.  Mrs. Miller has had a great impact in our school and worked with many families and students. We know she is going to miss us, as we will miss her.  She has fallen in love with the students and their families, and come to respect the hard work and dedication of our wonderful staff here at Boyne.


Kindergarten registration underway at Halton District School Board

Parents/guardians asked to register their child by Feb. 1, 2019


The Halton District School Board is now accepting registrations for Junior (Year 1) and Senior (Year 2) Kindergarten for September 2019. Parents are advised to visit or call their local elementary school to find out which dates have been established for Kindergarten registration in their area. Parents and guardians are asked to register their child by Feb. 1, 2019. Once registered, children can sign out books from the school library.


At Boyne PS we have a very busy office during the day.  You can register at any time but have also set up added hours on January 29 &30 after the school day.  Registrations on those two days will be taken until 7 pm in the evening.

Please bring the following original documents when registering:

·  Proof of address (any two of the following current documents): lease or deed, car registration, utility bill, residential telephone bill, moving bill, property tax bill, bank statement, credit card statement, correspondence with a government agency

·  Proof of age: birth certificate or passport or baptismal/faith record for your child

·  Proof of citizenship: birth certificate or passport, Record of Landing (IMM 1000) or Permanent Resident card


If you are not the child’s parent, or if you have sole custody, please bring proof of custody (court order).

To register for Fall 2019, Junior Kindergarten (Year 1) children must be four years old by Dec. 31, 2019, and Senior Kindergarten (Year 2) children must be five years old by Dec. 31, 2019.

To determine your home school, refer to “Find My Local School” under the Schools section on the HDSB website at www.hdsb.ca.

If you require language assistance to register your child for school, please contact the Halton Multicultural Council at 905-842-2486. Parents/guardians should contact the principal/vice-principal of their school if they require accessibility accommodations to register their child for Kindergarten.

School Council Movie Night-Thursday, January 31, 2019.  ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’. 

We are running out of tickets!  We will be checking our lists before entry is allowed in the gym for this show.  Tickets are available on Cash On Line only (cashless).  Drinks and snacks are also available for pre-order on line.  Only those that have purchased a ticket will be able to enter the school.  Each family member must purchase a ticket.  We cannot allow any outside food to be brought into this event.  Due to our capacity restrictions we are capping the number of tickets at 250.  Children must be accompanied by parents, for this event no day care can be provided.  Doors open at 6 pm, and the movie begins at 6:30 pm.

 

 Halton Learning Foundation fundraising Dinner by Paramount

The Halton Learning Foundation (HLF) is a registered charity that collaborates with the Halton District School Board to assist students and support school programs.

HLF partners with individuals, corporations and community foundations to eliminate financial barriers to e​ducation for public school students in Acton, Burlington, Georgetown, Milton and Oakville. The foundation provide assistance through emergency funds for students-in-need, post-secondary scholarships, and engagement funds to help schools purchase tools and resources to engage students in learning.

Every time Boyne administration has reached out to the HLF they have provided funds for our students and families.  We would like to offer our thanks back and provide funds for future requests.  Our ‘Be Nice’ fundraising for this year will be a COMMUNITY DINNER to support the HLF.

 

Would you like Boyne Staff to serve you dinner? Then put Feb 21 on your calendar. We invite our families to attend a dinner provided by Paramount Fine Foods. We will be having a buffet consisting of Pita, Humus, Fatoush Salad, Zaatr Manakeesh, Cheese Manakeesh as appetizers. The main meal will consist of Rice, Potato Wedges, Veg Pasta, Steam Vegetables, Chicken Shawarma, Falafel Shawarma, Kafta Skewers, & Chicken Skewers. The proceeds of this will go to the Halton Learning Foundation. We will serve the dinner buffet style and provide tables and chairs for all to sit comfortably. So bring your family and share a meal with us.

Staff will be on hand to serve and welcome you and we will have a series of presentations and events to entertain you while you eat.  Tickets will be $15 per person and all proceeds will be turned over to the HLF.  Get your seat today.  All information can be found on Cash On-Line.
