Dear Parent/Guardian:

As part of our commitment to “Making a Difference”, Boyne students and staff will be taking part in our second annual Jump Rope for Heart for JK-Grade 6 and Hoops for Heart for Grade 7-8.  The date for our event is April 26th, 2018. This unique program combines physical education and cardiovascular health education while raising funds to support the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.  Skipping and Basketball have become part of our physical education program during the school year.  All students will be participating in the event and are encouraged to seek pledges to support this very worthy cause. The Heart and Stroke Foundation benefits from the money raised for research to improve the lives of those affected by heart disease and stroke. This will be a very large and very unique opportunity for our school to contribute by working hard to make a difference for this organization.

Today your child received their pledge envelope. We are strongly encouraging on-line donations this year if at all possible! We had a very energetic assembly to kick off the Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart fundraiser. We are looking forward to an exciting event this year!  Please log on to jumpropeforheart.ca and find Boyne school! We have set a goal of $10 000!  Help our students hit their target!

The active fundraising part of Jump Rope for Heart/Hoops for Heart consists of 100 minutes of activity (Skip-a-thon/3-on-3 Competition).  Students are arranged into teams and take turns skipping/playing basketball for a few minutes at a time. Students are encouraged to secure pledges prior to the event. Students qualify for prizes based on the pledges they collect individually. We suggest that pledge forms be taken home by students and pledges secured from parents, relatives and close friends.  Ask your child to bring home a pledge sheet for you to take to work or direct co-workers to the on-line form. All students participate during the day as a demonstration of “Working Hard, Being Nice and Making a Difference”.  Our event will take place immediately following the lunch break at 1:35 p.m. on April 26th and will end at 3:10 pm when students will be dismissed.

Thank you for your support of our community fundraiser. We appreciate all your efforts! We would love to see you contribute to our event.  If you are able to volunteer on the day of the event, please register with Mrs. T. so that volunteers can be placed. Send your name and contact information to  trojanovicm@hdsb.ca

Sincerely,

Mrs. M. Trojanovic
