b)      Want to help out a great school?  We are still accepting volunteers to help with our School Fun Fair.  It is held after school on Thursday, June 13th. We are looking for volunteers to provide some time to assist with our fun events for students.  If you are able to donate half an hour of your time please contact our school council Chair at Boynepschair@hdsb.ca   We would love to have you be involved.

c)    This Tuesday June 4th, is a special day here at Boyne!  The French team has organized a concert performance for all students in grades 1-8. We're having the performer Etienne come to our school for two shows! Etienne aka DJ Delf is a French Canadian children's performer who has been performing his music for schools and audiences around the world for over 25 years!  His most famous fan is Justin Bieber...google it!  The viewing will take place in the gym.  Grades 1-4 are invited to the gym immediately following first break for periods 3-4.  Class4/5 will join grades 1-4.  Grades 5-8 are invited to the gym immediately following second break for periods 5-6.

d)    Senior Track & Field and Relays

Congratulations to the Senior Track and Field and Relay teams who competed on Wednesday, May 29th at Nelson High School against 11 other Halton schools in events such as: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 4x100m relays, 4x400 m relays, and Turbo Javelin! This was the most successful Senior Meet we have ever had with many ribbons from 1st place to 6th place being awarded!!! In addition to the ribbons, we also had a number of personal bests as our athletes competed against the other schools. We are very proud of our athletes who represented the school with pride and thank Mr. Laird and Mrs. Roman for their time in assisting at the meet!  You have worked so hard, Bears! Our Junior Meet for grades 3-5 will be on June 19th and information for that meet will come home in a few weeks.

e)    Girls Just Want to Have Fun

We are really close to making the "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" evening a reality!  Next Thursday, June 6th is going to be a magical night for many of our grade 1-8 female students and their mothers/aunts/grandmothers/sisters. This event is an opportunity to have fun and celebrate being females!  Our workshop sessions are filling up quickly and if you were not able to send your registration back with your daughter, please email Mrs. T at trojanovicm@hdsb.ca so that she can include you. Spaces are limited and we are approaching our caps for some workshops. We will do our very best to ensure that you and your daughter get at least one first choice. Due to the popularity of some workshops, we may have to offer a second or third choice in the sessions. Please note that we are able to accommodate a few students whose mothers are not available to attend as we have lined up "adopted" moms (Boyne Female Staff Members) to help supervise and be active with your daughter. We are unable to accommodate any fathers at this special event and we do thank you for your understanding. Confirmations will be sent home next week. We can't wait to see you!!!

f)     Jump Rope Prizes

A number of parents and students have been asking about the Jump Rope prizes. These are on order and will be distributed as soon as they arrive to the school. Thank you for your patience!

g)    Golf In Schools

On Wednesday, the grades 1 - 3 students at Boyne has a unique opportunity to learn a few things about golfing. Our school was very fortunate to receive an amazing gift from the Trafalgar Golf Club. They sponsored our school with an entire resource package of indoor training golf equipment for primary students. The aim of the Golf In Schools program is to teach young students about the game of golf and to help them develop further interest in playing. There are a number of fantastic golfing programs in the Milton area and we encourage your children to explore the life long benefits of playing golf. Golf is a fun way to enjoy movement and a great way to lead healthy, active, and successful well-balanced lives! FORE!
