Boyne Terry Fox Walk for Cancer Research

Thursday, September 27, 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are thrilled to announce our first school wide event of the year, the Terry Fox Walk, to be held on Thursday, September 27th at 1:35 pm.  In addition to being a good fitness event, this walk teaches our students about helping others and being nice.  Information about Terry Fox will be shared with our students on the announcements during the week before the walk in order to increase our students’ awareness about our great Canadian hero whose dream it was to see a future without cancer.

Our walk will begin from the school gym. We will travel as a community together to complete the course which takes us off school property. Intermediate students will be paired with primary students. We will all wear RED AND WHITE to celebrate! If you intend on joining us for the walk, please DO NOT PARK on Farmstead in front of the school as this is a construction zone and your car will be towed. Please park north of Louis St. Laurent on Farmstead.

Any amount of donation is greatly appreciated! Our aim is to have all students bring in a loonie ($1.00), a toonie ($2.00) OR five-’buckaroonies’  ($5.00). Cheques and cash are both accepted for this event. Cheques can be made payable to The Terry Fox Foundation. Please bring all donations in on or before our event on Thursday. All monies raised will be forwarded to The Terry Fox Foundation and 82 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to cancer research!

Another way to support The Terry Fox Foundation is by donating online. It’s fast, easy and donors get a receipt immediately by email.

Go to www.terrryfox.org

Click “Terry Fox School Run”

Click “Donate to a Student/School”

Enter Boyne PS and follow the prompts to donate!

We know that the students enjoy participating, however, students do not need to contribute in order to take part in the walk. All money collected will be presented to the Canadian Cancer Society on behalf of our school. Our goal is $3000!  We can do it!

Thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,

Boyne Staff
